Information and Help-Seeking Experiences Among Hispanic Family Caregivers
Clinical Trial ( IRB ) #: 07-144-1
Title: Information and Help-Seeking Experiences Among Hispanic Family Caregivers
Principal Investigator: Dr. Richard Fortinsky
Description: The goal of the proposed study is to enhance our understanding of self-reported pathways to dementia diagnosis, dementia care advise and guidance received from health care practitioners, and self-efficacy for managing dementia, among Hispanic family members caring for a relative with dementia. Using qualitative and quantitative research methods, we will measure these variables and determine whether and how they vary according to nationality, socioeconomic status, and familial relationship to the person with dementia. Developing an understanding of these issues for Hispanic family caregivers is essential to designing culturally sensitive programs and services for this rapidly growing population.
