Title: Combination Nicotine Replacement for Alcoholic Smokers
Principal Investigator: Dr. Mark Litt
Description: Alcoholic smokers will receive alcoholism treatment plus smoking cessation involving nicotine gum, or nicotine patch plus placebo. The purpose of the study is to determine if combined nicotine replacement is more effective that single agent nicotine replacement at stopping smoking in highly dependent smokers. An additional aim is to determine if concurrent smoking cessation can help drinkers forestall alcoholic relapse.
